Ussuriysk resident sentenced for a drunken road accident with a victim and a dead man

The court in Ussuriysk (Primorsky Krai) passed a sentence on the case of a drunken traffic accident, which killed an elderly man and seriously injured his wife. This is reported by the press service of the police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Ussuriysk on Monday, November 18.

The defendant in the case was a 38-year-old resident of Ulitovka village, who in February 2023 sat behind the wheel in a state of intoxication. On Novonikolsk highway, his Toyota Crown drove onto the oncoming road and crashed into a Niva driven by a 63-year-old man. The driver of the domestic car was killed, his 62-year-old wife, who was in the passenger seat, was seriously injured.

The driver of the Toyota was detained and a criminal case was initiated against him under paragraph "a" part 4 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules, causing the death of a person by negligence, committed by a person in a state of intoxication"). During the preliminary investigation the man was in custody, reports PrimaMedia IA.

The court found the motorist guilty and sentenced him to six years and six months of imprisonment in a general regime colony. In the next two and a half years he also has no right to drive. In addition, the resident of Ussuriysk must pay 600 thousand rubles to the widow of the dead pensioner and 800 thousand rubles each to his two sons.
