A cosmetologist refuted popular myths about skin care

On November 18, Anastasia Kostenko, cosmetologist and trichologist of SM-Cosmetology, dispelled common misconceptions about proper skin care that can be harmful to health.
Thus, natural cosmetic products are not safe for the face. Kostenko specified that plant extracts, essential oils can cause allergic dermatitis, so they must be used correctly.
The doctor also stated that any type of skin needs moisturizing.
"Most often, cleansers wash away the water-lipid mantle (sebum, oils, natural moisturizing factors), because of which the skin lacks sufficient moisturization. Against this background, more sebum starts to be produced, which increases the greasy shine and provokes the appearance of rashes," Kostenko told Gazeta.Ru.
As for the use of SPF-protection, the beautician said that it should be applied to the skin of the face every day. UVA-rays penetrate through clouds and window panes, and blue light from electronic devices can provoke the appearance of pigmentation.
Earlier, on November 17, dermatovenerologist, trichologist, cosmetologist Natalia Korplyakova told "Izvestia" about how to take care of the skin in winter. According to her, hot water degreases the skin and increases dryness. Therefore, you should not wash in it, and the procedure should take 10-15 minutes. This is the optimal time for the skin to saturate with moisture.
Also, you should not rub the skin with a loofah or brush. After showering, you should not rub your skin with a hard towel, but blot it, said Korplyakova.
