A possible agreement between Germany and Russia on the resumption of work of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, which survived the explosion, is causing serious concern in Poland. This was stated by Polish President Andrzej Duda on Monday, November 18.

The Polish leader doubted that the telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was coordinated with Berlin's allies.

"I think this was an unauthorized action by Chancellor Scholz. Germany is probably looking for an opportunity to negotiate with Russia in order to return to energy contracts with Russia, in order to be able to buy energy resources from Russia," RIA Novosti quoted the politician as saying.

Duda expressed concern over the possible reopening of Nord Stream, calling it an action that Warsaw has opposed for years.

The phone conversation between Putin and Scholz took place on November 15 and lasted an hour. The Kremlin said that the conversation included a detailed and frank exchange of views on the situation in Ukraine.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on November 17 that the conversation between Putin and Scholz was businesslike, detailed and very frank as the sides openly stated their positions on various issues.

Three of the four strings of the Nord Stream pipeline were blown up in September 2022. Russia is seeking an international investigation into the terrorist attacks.
