Samara Region will start using polygraphs to check officials


The authorities of the Samara region are going to apply a lie detector when regional officials are suspected of corruption from 2025. This was announced by the Governor of the region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev at a meeting of the regional government on November 18.
"From January 1, to implement the Polygraph system in the government of the Samara region. <...> To apply in case of a conflict situation when there is a signal of corrupt activity," TASS quoted him as saying.
He specified that officials will be offered to undergo a check-up once every six months on a voluntary basis.
Earlier, on November 15, a criminal case was initiated in the Yaroslavl region against one of the heads of the administration of Pereslavl-Zalessky. It was specified that the man is charged under part 5 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receipt by an official personally of a bribe in the form of money for the performance of actions in favor of the bribe-giver and persons represented by him in a large amount").
