Russia's main New Year's tree will be delivered to the Kremlin from the village of Znamenka in the Mozhaisky district of Moscow Region. This was reported on November 18 by the Department of Affairs of the President of Russia.

"More than 25 contenders from all over the Moscow region participated in the competition for the title of the main New Year's tree of the country. More than 3 thousand kilometers it took the commission to find the one", - stated in the Telegram-channel.

It is specified that the selection of the tree was held according to "Kremlin standards". Specialists in the selection of the tree took into account the height, age, trunk diameter, shape of the crown and the absence of defects. Also, the spruce should be easily accessible for cutting.

According to the Russian Presidential Affairs Directorate, they chose a tree with a height of 30 meters. The trunk girth is 60 cm, and the span of the lower branches is 8 meters. In addition, the color of the needles is saturated, the spruce has a regular pyramidal shape.

Earlier, on October 14, it became known how much the authorities of Russian cities are ready to spend on Christmas trees and decorations. Thus, in Krasnoyarsk it is planned to install a festive tree and decorate it for 15.6 million rubles, in Salekhard (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District) for the purchase of such Christmas equipment and illumination will allocate 18.2 million rubles.

At the same time, in the city of Noginsk in the Moscow region, it is planned to spend Br4.6 million for the installation and dismantling of Christmas trees. At the same time, in St. Petersburg, the authorities will spend RUB 16.1 million to decorate the Petrodvortsovy district with a 14-meter-high artificial Christmas tree and light compositions.
