"Moskvich" may postpone the start of sales of a new crossover to 2025

Moskvich automobile plant may postpone the start of sales of a new seven-seat crossover with index 8 to next year. Ilya Petrov, director of retail sales of Avilon AG, shared this forecast with the analytical agency Avtostat on November 18.
According to Petrov, it is expected that the cost of the novelty will range from 2.8 million to 3 million rubles depending on the equipment. The model will take the second place in terms of sales volume after Moskvich 3, the competitors of the model within the price range will be Geely Coolray, Changan CS55 Plus, Omoda C5 and Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max, the expert suggested.
Initially, the Moskvich plant stated that it plans to start production and sales of the novelty at the end of 2024. "Moskvich 8" became the fourth model of the revived brand. The length of the crossover is 4824 mm with a wheelbase of 2830 mm. The car received a GDI gasoline engine (174 hp) with a 7-speed robotized transmission.
In August, Maxim Zlatokrylets, commercial director of the capital's automobile plant, said that Moskvich adheres to the plan on the volume of car sales in 2024 at the level of 27 thousand units and plans to keep prices for cars at least until the end of 2024.
In February, Sergey Kogogin, General Director of KamAZ, said that Moskvich was not producing cars in the volumes originally estimated. In 2024, the plant planned to produce 50,000 cars, but the break-even level is reached with the production of 40,000 cars per year, he said.
