More than 20 AFU fighters surrendered in Kursk region overnight


Over the past 24 days, 24 fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have surrendered to the Russian military. This was reported by the Defense Ministry on November 18.
"Over the day, the losses of the AFU amounted to 420 servicemen, <...> 24 AFU servicemen surrendered as prisoners of war," the ministry said.
Two US-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, a German-made Marder infantry fighting vehicle, four armored fighting vehicles, four vehicles, a 155-millimeter PzH-2000 self-propelled artillery unit (SAU) made in Germany, a 152-millimeter Akatsiya SAU, as well as a 152-millimeter D-20 gun and three 122-millimeter D-30 howitzers were also hit during the fighting.
In total, the enemy lost more than 33,670 servicemen during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the bulletin added.
On the eve, the Defense Ministry reported that the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation prevented a breakthrough of the AFU in the area of Olgovskaya Grove in the Kursk region. As a result, the "North" group of troops destroyed more than 80 militants. About 40 enemy soldiers were wounded, some of them abandoned by fellow soldiers.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
