Defense Ministry: almost 60 AFU drones shot down over five Russian regions overnight

Air defense means have prevented an attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to strike the infrastructure of Russian regions. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry in its Telegram channel on November 18.

According to the ministry, two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were destroyed over the Moscow region. The largest number of drones - 45 - was shot down over the Bryansk region. Six UAVs were eliminated over Kursk region and three each over Belgorod and Tula regions.

Earlier, on November 17, the Defense Ministry reported about drones and uncrewed boats of the AFU destroyed in Russia. It is specified that the boats were traveling in the direction of the Crimean peninsula.

A day earlier, the Defense Ministry told about five Ukrainian UAVs, eliminated within half an hour on the territory of Russia. It is noted that the air defense destroyed two drones over the Kursk region, two - over the Bryansk region and another - over the Belgorod region.

The armed forces of Ukraine are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
