Vladimir Levkin, singer. Biography

Vladimir Levkin was born in 1967 in Moscow. The future star's childhood was spent in Potsdam, Germany, where his family moved because of his father's work. At the age of six, Vladimir went to the local music school, where he learned to play the accordion.
Levkin's family returned to Russia in the late 1970s. For a while Vladimir continued to play the accordion, and then mastered the guitar, which became his real passion. The young man was seriously interested in hard rock and together with friends created the group "Mercury Lake".
As the singer himself recalled, he received his first performance fee when he was 15 years old. Then he was offered to replace the guitarist in a Moscow restaurant. For the evening, the young musician earned 30 rubles - a very large sum for those times.
In 1985 he entered the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI). However, his studies had to be interrupted because he was drafted into the army. Levkin served in a ship repair battalion near Murmansk. In the army he was a guitarist of the popular local ensemble "Horizon".
Returning home, Levkin decided not to continue his studies at MPEI, but to devote himself to music. He changed several collectives, and then entered Gnesinka.
During his studies, Vladimir continued to pass various auditions from time to time. In 1989, he got to the selection of participants in the pop group "Na-Na", organized by producer Bari Alibasov. The musician did not expect that he would be taken, and no special love for "pops" did not feel, but brilliantly passed the casting.
The group "Na-Na" quickly won the hearts of millions of listeners across the country. Performances of the collective invariably gathered a huge audience, and the songs did not go from the top lines of the top charts.
In 1996 Levkin entered the directing faculty at GITIS and successfully graduated. And in 1998 he left the group "Na-Na" and focused on solo projects.
In 1999, Levkin's first album "Steps to You" was released, which included 11 songs. And in 2000 the singer returned to his favorite genre and together with his army comrade Vyacheslav Kachin created a punk rock band Kedbl. The collective released two albums, "Floamaster" and "Zaapanki", which came to the taste of fans of rock music.
However, soon after that Levkin had to leave the stage: he was diagnosed with cancer of the lymphatic system. The disease was detected at the fourth stage, and the singer had few chances to survive. Nevertheless, in 2003, after a course of chemotherapy and complex surgery, the artist went on the mend.
Some time later, Levkin returned to an active social and creative life. Since 2006, he held traveling sessions of ASEAN countries, for which he was awarded the medal "For Assistance to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia". At the same time he held the position of the Director of Culture and Sports of the All-Russian public organization "Union of Social Justice of Russia".
In 2009, another solo album of the artist called "Stories from the first person" was released. The next record, "Life in 3-D", was released in 2015 and included three disks with more than 30 compositions. In 2012, Levkin held his first concert in the Kremlin.
In addition, the singer participated in various TV projects, such as "Tochtochtochto", "About Love", "Hello, Andrew", "Superstar! Return" and others. In 2022, the artist celebrated his 55th anniversary and in honor of the momentous event pleased fans with a performance with former participants of "Na-Na".
