Weather forecaster explains abnormally high temperatures across Russia

Abnormally high temperatures are recorded across Russia due to the Atlantic cyclone. This was reported to Izvestia on November 18 by Tatyana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist of the Meteonovosti information agency.

"The Atlantic cyclone is such a funnel in which the air comes from the north and south, almost even from the Mediterranean area. It is a deep funnel, so it can 'pump' air from distant territories. But, since the center of Atlantic cyclones passes through the north of European Russia, we are always in the warm part of these vortices, so we receive really warm and humid air and keep such a high temperature," she said.

The forecaster drew attention to the fact that one cyclone is replaced by another, there are no intermediate ridges between them, thanks to which could freeze.

"It is possible that just the cyclone, which on November 23 will determine the weather, will be the final in a certain series. Then already in the rear of this cyclone will enter cooler air. We hope that in the last "five days" of November the temperature will return to the climatic norm. And as for the norm, in late November we have an average daily air temperature should be about -3 degrees Celsius, and such a temperature is not even in the night hours," - added Pozdnyakova.

Earlier in the day, the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand said that abnormally high temperatures are recorded throughout Russia due to air transfer from the Atlantic and global warming. According to the forecaster, the figure exceeds 4-5 degrees in the European part of the country. At the same time, when the Atlantic air goes beyond the Urals, where temperature norms are very different, there is a colossal anomaly, Vilfand emphasized.
