- Trump spokesman Cheung declined to comment on decision to strike deep into Russian Federation

Communications Director of the transition team of US President-elect Donald Trump's transition team Stephen Cheung refused to comment on the authorization of the current White House Chief of Staff Joe Biden to use US long-range missiles for strikes on the territory of Russia by Ukraine. This was reported by CNN on November 18.
"As President Trump said during the campaign, he is the only person who can bring the two sides together to negotiate peace and work to end <conflict>," Cheung told the TV channel.
The TV channel noted that Trump's spokesman refused to reveal the truth about whether the incoming U.S. president and his administration's national security team received a warning from Biden about his authorization to strike deep into Russian Federation.
On November 17, The New York Times reported that the US president had authorized Ukraine to use US long-range ATACMS missiles to strike Russian territory.
The piece noted that some officials expressed their concerns that Ukraine's use of missiles across the border could prompt Russian President Vladimir Putin to retaliate and use force against the United States and its partners, while other US officials said that they considered these concerns exaggerated
Also on November 17, political scientist and University of Chicago professor John Mearsheimer said that the Biden administration intends to actively support Kiev in order to frame Trump when Ukraine falls. The professor believes that the Democrats will actively finance Kiev until the end of Biden's term in order for the Ukrainian armed forces to hold out until Trump's inauguration on January 20.
