The NCA criticized the draft increase in traffic fines from 2025

Instead of making individual amendments to the CAO on increasing fines for traffic violations, a completely new code should be developed, as the document in its current form does not meet the requirements of the time. This was stated by Vice-President of the National Automobile Union (NAU) Anton Shaparin in his Telegram-channel on November 18.

As Shaparin pointed out, the government, instead of introducing new necessary articles (for example, about SIM, pitbikes, drifters), increases fines for the bulk of drivers. Such an approach is considered wrong by the NAC: fines should be increased point by point and several times for those elements that affect the mortality rate, for example, alcohol at the wheel, unbuckled belts, lack of child seats, he said.

The human rights activist drew attention to the fact that in case of adoption of the draft in the CAO, the balance of responsibility will not be observed. For example, fines for land spoilage, prostitution or parents' failure to fulfill their responsibilities for the maintenance and upbringing of minors are less than for violation of road markings (it is proposed to increase to Br750-7500).

Also, the NAC criticized the initiative to reduce the size of the discount on payment of traffic fines from 50 to 25%. According to the human rights activist, the 25% discount will hardly motivate people as much, resulting in an increase in the number of those who have hundreds of unpaid fines.

Earlier in the day it was reported that the government is developing amendments to the CAO, according to which for violation of the rules of seat belt use the fine is proposed to increase from 1 thousand to 1.5 thousand rubles. For driving under the influence of alcohol or transfer of the right to drive a vehicle - from Br30 thousand to Br45 thousand. For speeding and non-compliance with road signs or markings - up to Br750-7500.
