Customs officers at Pulkovo foiled an attempt to smuggle about 4 million rubles


Employees of the customs post of St. Petersburg Pulkovo airport found 4 million rubles in the possession of a 60-year-old passenger. This was reported in the press service of the North-West Customs Department on November 18.
"Having flown to St. Petersburg, the air passenger did not declare a large amount of cash. On the fact of illegal movement of cash across the customs border a criminal case was initiated," - stated in the publication on the website.
It is specified that the man flew from Istanbul. He did not declare a large sum in advance, while the inspector showed only an envelope with $10 thousand (Br999 thousand). However, during the search in the "green" corridor was found more than $34 thousand, €10 and 600 rubles. It is specified that the amount amount amounted to about Br4 million at the rate of the Central Bank.
Head of Pulkovo customs Anatoli Timoshchenkov said that the fact of illegal movement of cash currency is evident, although the passenger confirmed the legal receipt of funds by payment slips.
Earlier, September 18, a Russian woman was detained in Pulkovo because of a chocolate bar with cannabis. It was specified that she brought it from Turkey.
