FSB detains Ukrainian agent preparing terrorist attacks in three Russian regions

A Ukrainian agent who was engaged in preparing terrorist attacks in three Russian regions has been detained in Kaluga Region. This was reported on Monday, November 18, in the center of public relations of the Federal Security Service of Russia.

"On the territory of the Kaluga region detained a Russian citizen, born in 1976, who carried out in the interests of Ukrainian security services the assembly of improvised explosive devices, which were later planned to be used to commit terrorist attacks on the territory of Belgorod, Bryansk and Tula regions", - stated in the message.

The investigation found that in October 2023 the man was recruited by the Ukrainian special services. Following the instructions of the curator, he created in a country house laboratory for the production of explosives and assembly of explosive devices.

The attacker passed them through caches to other agents to carry out sabotage and terrorist acts, which were prevented by Russian law enforcement agencies. Such plans involved police department buildings, Belgorod's "House of Officers," the offices of two energy companies in Bryansk during the Russian presidential election in March, and the bombing of a gas distribution substation in Tula.

A total of seven Russian citizens were detained for the preparation of the crimes. In the house of the defendant in question, they seized a ready-to-use improvised explosive device weighing 4.8 kg, components for the manufacture of explosives, a lot of ammunition, ammunition and weapons from the times of the Great Patriotic War, a Makarov pistol, SIM cards, a laptop and a smartphone used for communication with Ukrainian special services.

The weapons were sent for examination. A criminal case was initiated against the man.

Earlier, on November 15, three residents of Chelyabinsk were sentenced to imprisonment for terms of 15, 13 and 12.5 years for attempted sabotage at the transport infrastructure. The men were detained in January. The regional department of the FSB noted that one of them transferred money to buy components for the manufacture of homemade explosives to carry out a terrorist attack in another region of Russia.
