Economist says tangerine prices may fall before New Year's Eve

Prices for mandarins should decrease closer to the New Year due to an increase in the number of deliveries. Vyacheslav Cheglov, a professor of the basic department of trade policy at the Plekhanov Russian Economic University, said on November 18.
"Due to the seasonal growth of deliveries from Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, that is, the reduction of the logistic shoulder, the volume of supply will increase. There will be more goods, and this is a perishable product that needs to be sold faster. So, the season of discounts will be announced," Prime news agency quoted him as saying.
Cheglov noted that the main reason for the rise in prices for mandarins is the ruble exchange rate, as purchases are made in dollars. Also, the price is affected by the growing cost of logistics. However, it is expected that before the New Year holidays prices will go down.
Earlier, on November 15, marketing expert, CEO of BCSA Elizaveta Voloshanina told "Izvestia" that it is better to start buying gifts and necessary goods for the New Year in advance. This way you can avoid impulsive purchases, because the New Year's atmosphere, inclining to big spending, is not yet present in all stores.
