Trump nominated Brendan Carr to head the Federal Communications Commission

US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Brendan Carr to the post of Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This is stated in a statement released by Trump's press service on November 18.
In the document, the president-elect called Carr "a true defender of free speech."
"He will put an end to regulatory encroachments that hold back the freedoms of Americans and slow our economy, as well as ensure that the FCC works for the benefit of America's agricultural regions," the politician emphasized. His words are quoted by the NBC television channel.
Carr immediately reacted to the appointment, thanking for the honor.
"Thank you, President Trump! I am honored to be chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. Now we get to work," he wrote on his social media page X (formerly Twitter).
The Federal Communications Commission is one of the most important structures for the US economy and communications infrastructure, playing a key role in regulating telecommunications and media, including control over the Internet, Gazeta.Ru adds.
Brendan Carr graduated with honors from the Catholic University of America Law School and received a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University. He has served as an editor of the university's law journal. He has been at the FCC since 2012, where he served as counsel to then-Commission Chairman Ajit Pai, among others.
Earlier on Nov. 15, former Assistant U.S. Attorney and legal analyst Glenn Kirchner noted that following the negative public reaction to Trump's nomination of Congressman Matt Gaetz as U.S. Attorney General, the politician would likely withdraw his nomination. Kirchner revealed that Trump was going to withdraw Goetz's name from the nomination, citing that the Justice Department would not support the decision.
Trump nominated Getz, a Florida congressman, to head the U.S. Justice Department on Nov. 13. The Florida Republican is an active Trump supporter and one of his staunchest allies.
On the same day, Trump announced that American entrepreneurs Ilon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will head the new US government efficiency department. Prior to that, on November 12, Trump also made a number of appointments. He nominated Fox News host Pete Hegseth to head the Secretary of Defense. And announced that former US National Intelligence Director John Ratcliffe would become head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) under the new administration.
The election for the 47th president of the United States took place on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. Later, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the cessation of military conflicts in the world.
