Ramaswamy said DOGE plans to shut down some U.S. federal agencies

Created under the administration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will reduce government spending and close some agencies. This was announced to Fox News on November 17 by entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who will head the new structure along with billionaire Ilon Musk.
"We expect some agencies to be completely shut down. We expect major layoffs in bloated areas of the federal government. We expect massive layoffs among federal contractors and those who send inflated invoices to the federal government," he said.
According to Ramaswamy, American citizens should be surprised by the speed of such measures. As the businessman specified, he and Musk would like to complete this work in the period given to them for this purpose - until July 4, 2026, when the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of the United States will be celebrated.
Earlier, on November 12, Trump announced that Musk and Ramaswamy will head a new department of efficiency of the US government. It will have to take a direct part in the reorganization of the US government. The work of the department will be completed no later than July 4, 2026.
Commenting on his upcoming appointment, Musk called it "a threat to bureaucracy." In turn, Ramaswamy compared the importance of the new agency with the importance of the U.S. nuclear weapons program in the XX century.
The election of the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5. In the popular vote, Trump received 50.1% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 48.3%. Speaking to supporters, the Republican said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
