Already 11 Vienna-type streetcar platforms have been equipped in Moscow. This was reported on November 17 by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport and Industry.

According to him, thanks to such platforms passengers, including those with low mobility, can more conveniently board and disembark from streetcars; unlike the usual elevated stop, they are located on the roadway, notes the agency of city news "Moscow".

"In places where it is not possible to widen the roadway, Vienna-type platforms are arranged. This is an effective way to provide convenience for passengers on narrow streets," - said Liksutov.

In 2024, during the improvement of Volochaevskaya Street, specialists equipped two new Vienna-type platforms. Here also updated the physical separation for streetcars and arranged convenient elevated stops, notes the site kp.ru.

Today in the capital there are 35 streetcar routes, on which about 700 thousand trips are made on weekdays. At the moment Vienna-type platforms are equipped on the turning ring at the metro station "Partizanskaya", in Novosuschevsky Lane, on Novokuznetskaya and Volochaevskaya Streets, as well as in the 2nd Field Lane near the metro station "Sokolniki", says IA Regnum.

In October it became known that in Moscow in the area of VDNKh will build an additional track for streetcars. The introduction of an additional track will make it possible to reduce the time of passing the junction by streetcars of route No. 17.
