"The Monetary Policy Committee has decided to keep the interest rate at 50%," the Central Bank of Turkey informed.

At the same time, it is noted that inflation expectations and price behavior continue to pose risks to the disinflation process. The Committee decided to keep the interest rate unchanged, but reiterated that it remains extremely attentive to inflationary risks.

"The tight monetary position will be maintained until there is a significant and steady decline in the underlying trend of monthly inflation, and inflation expectations do not approach the forecasted range," the ministry concluded.

Earlier, on April 3, it was reported that inflation in Turkey accelerated to 68.5% and updated the 2022 maximum. The consumer price index (CPI) increased by 68.50% annually and by 3.16% monthly.
