US President Joe Biden has authorized Ukraine to use US long-range ATACMS missiles to strike Russian territory. This was reported by The New York Times (NYT) on November 17.

"Some U.S. officials expressed concern that Ukraine's use of missiles across the border could prompt Russian President Vladimir Putin to retaliate and use force against the United States and its partners. However, other US officials said they believed these concerns were exaggerated," the NYT piece said.

Earlier in the day, political scientist and University of Chicago professor John Mirsheimer said that the administration of US President Joe Biden intends to actively support Kiev in order to frame President-elect Donald Trump in the fall of Ukraine. The professor believes that the Democrats will actively finance Kiev until the end of Biden's term in order for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to hold out until Trump's inauguration on January 20.

Before that, on November 15, Deputy Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said that the United States intends to supply Ukraine with all the weapons promised by the American leader before he leaves office as head of state. She pointed out that some equipment and systems will reach Ukraine very quickly, within days and weeks. Some will take longer and could take months.

On the same day, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga said that the Biden administration intends to deliver the full amount of promised aid to Ukraine before the end of his presidential term.

On November 12, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said that the US has $9.3 billion in agreed aid to Ukraine. Ryder said he will continue to do everything he can to make sure Ukraine has everything it needs.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct it was made by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
