Argentina threatened to block the communiqué of the G20 summit in Brazil

Argentina threatened to block the final communiqué of the G20 summit in Brazil. This was reported by the British newspaper Financial Times (FT) on November 17.
According to the newspaper, the representatives of the country do not agree with the provisions of the communiqué on taxation and gender equality.
"[The Argentine government] wants to turn the G20 in Brazil into a fight between old and new forces," the FT quotes a Brazilian official as saying.
After a year of negotiations on taxation, he said, "they are creating problems where they previously agreed."
Diplomats are also trying to reach consensus on climate finance and international political issues, including the conflict in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East, the FT noted, adding that the sides have made progress in discussing these topics.
Russia's delegation to the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro will be led by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The meeting of the leaders of the world's largest economies is scheduled for November 18-19.
Before that, on October 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he would not attend the G20 summit in Brazil this year. According to the Russian leader, his visit could disrupt the work of the "G20". The head of state also said that he has friendly relations with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
Last year, one of the results of the G20 summit negotiations was the expansion of the G20 membership - the African Union was included in it. Experts interviewed by Izvestia noted that this indicates that the West recognizes the increasing political and economic influence of the countries of the Global South.
