Russians have become more interested in vacations abroad

The demand for vacations abroad this fall has grown by 38% compared to last year. This follows from the data of online booking service of hotels and apartments "Ostrovok", which were reviewed by "Izvestia" on November 18. Especially the popularity of Asia and neighboring countries has increased.

The number of hotel and apartment bookings by Russian tourists in Abkhazia tripled, a twofold increase was observed among such destinations as Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia and Georgia. In Kazakhstan, the increase was 97%. In addition, the popularity of South Korea (+80%), Montenegro (+73%), Uzbekistan (+70%), China (+62%) and Hungary (+60%) increased.

At the same time, Belarus, Turkey, Abkhazia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Japan and the UAE are leading in terms of the absolute number of bookings.

"Together with the dynamic growth in demand for foreign vacations this fall, we also see an increase in the share of these destinations in the overall structure: if last year they accounted for 13% of all bookings, this year - 17%. This indicates that the demand for travel abroad is gradually recovering - tourists are choosing destinations with direct flights and visa-free countries", - said the managing director of "Ostrovka" Daria Kochetkova.

According to the data of the service, the interest in domestic tourism also remains. Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don and Vladivostok became the leaders in tourist flow.

At the same time, other destinations are also gaining popularity: Arkhyz (24% growth in demand), Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (+20%), Sergiev Posad (+15%), as well as Sochi, Gelendzhik, Zelenogradsk, Petrozavodsk, Smolensk and Vyborg, where the demand for autumn vacations increased by 10% compared to 2023.

At the same time, the average cost of a night in accommodation facilities in Russia for the fall is 5 thousand rubles, which is 16% more than in 2023 (4300 rubles). The cost of accommodation in facilities abroad - an average of Br8,300 per night - 3% cheaper than in 2023 (Br8,600).

As follows from the results of the survey conducted by the service, autumn travel is liked by every third Russian tourist, mainly because of the picturesque nature and comfortable weather conditions: this was stated by 39% and 32% of respondents respectively. Every fourth (26%) chooses autumn for vacations because of more comfortable prices for air tickets and hotel accommodation, as well as because of the reduced intensity of tourist flow (25%). About 15% believe that the fall is richer in cultural events that can be visited on a trip.

And the most money Russians will spend if they go to Sochi and Kaliningrad.
