The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have started moving their units to the Oskol water reservoir due to the advance of the Russian army. This was reported by military expert Andriy Marochko on September 24.

"Due to the grave situation, the Ukrainian command has started to transfer some of its forces and means to the opposite bank of the Oskolskoye Reservoir," he told TASS.

He added that despite the resistance of the Ukrainian army, the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces) actively continue "to develop success in the Kupyansk direction."

On Thursday, September 19, the military expert also shared with TASS that the massive strikes of the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces) have affected logistics and ammunition supply for Ukrainian army units near Kupyansk. He emphasized that most of the strikes hit the AFU units on the left bank of the Oskol river and the right bank of the Oskol water reservoir.

Earlier, on September 14, Marochko said about the consolidation of the RF Armed Forces positions near Kupyansk. According to him, then at a number of settlements in the Kupyansk direction the AFU were pushed back by Russian servicemen to the Oskol reservoir.

Before that, on September 12, a Su-34 bomber of the Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS) destroyed dozens of AFU fighters in the Kupyansk direction. The crew used FAB-500 bombs with a universal planning and correction module.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken amid an aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
