Troops Group "West" took control of 58 AFU strongholds

Over the course of the day, units of the "West" group of forces managed to take control of 58 strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported by the head of the press center of the grouping Ivan Bigma on September 24.

"Motorized rifle units of the "West" troop group have improved the position along the front line and seized 58 enemy strongholds," -- Interfax quoted him as saying.

He also added that the units repelled four counterattacks by assault brigades. In addition, two Ukrainian militants were captured in the Berestovoye area during the fighting.

Bigma specified that during the day the "West" group was able to destroy 16 UAV control points and 10 mortar units.

On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that on the Orekhovsky direction in the Zaporizhzhya region, a team of operators of FPV drones of the 58th Combined Armed Forces Army of the Dnipro group of forces destroyed a temporary deployment point (TDP) of the AFU.

On September 22, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the AFU had lost over 16,000 servicemen, 126 tanks, 57 infantry fighting vehicles, 95 armored personnel carriers, 795 armored fighting vehicles, 492 vehicles, 124 artillery pieces, and 29 multiple rocket launchers during the fighting in the Kursk area.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
