The United Nations (UN), as the Russian side believes, needs to play a central role in a multipolar world that will coordinate and bring together the positions of various players. This statement was made by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin on September 23 during the "Future Summit" in New York.

"We believe that the UN should play a central coordinating role in our multipolar world, bringing together the positions of the countries - members of the organization on the way to finding answers to global challenges," he said.

In addition, during his speech at the summit before the start of the high-level week of the UN General Assembly, Vershinin noted that today the world community faces "unprecedented challenges" requiring collective solutions.

The day before, on September 22, the Pact of the Future was adopted at the UN General Assembly (GA) meeting. Russia, Belarus, Belarus, Nicaragua, DPRK, Syria, Sudan and Iran opposed the adoption of the document. Another 15 countries abstained from voting, 143 supported it.

Thus, Russia distanced itself from the consensus on the document because of the non-adoption of the amendment on non-interference in the internal affairs of other states. Vershinin, who represented Russia at the summit, said that the text of the document was written under the dictation of Western countries. The Russian Federation, in view of the relevant claims to the text of the pact, proposed to continue negotiations and postpone its adoption.

Later the same day, Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky called the pact adopted at the "Summit of the Future" unbalanced. According to him, when adopting the document, the organization compromised its own principles in favor of some delegations, while the rest lacked the courage to "protest and defend their rights".

Earlier, on September 4, Associate Professor of Political Philosophy and Geopolitics, consultant in strategic analysis, geopolitics and international relations, publisher and journalist Lorenzo Pocini said that Russia is the leading country in a multipolar world. Pochini emphasized that the people of Europe are dissatisfied with the Russophobia that is imposed by their governments and would like to have more friendly relations with the Russian Federation.
