Polish PM Tusk says beavers to blame for flooding in south of Poland

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk believes that beavers are partly to blame for floods in the country because they damage dams, he said on Monday, September 23, during a speech at a meeting of the crisis headquarters in Wroclaw, Onet reports.
"Sometimes you have to choose between the love of animals and the safety of cities, villages and the stability of dams," Tusk said.
At the same time, he believes that actions against beavers must be legal. The Prime Minister noted that the protection of dams from digging animals is a priority from the authorities, notes "Gazeta.ru".
The flooding in Poland became known on September 15. Then because of heavy rains, which led to the incident, the country introduced disaster mode, reported Tusk. After that, on September 16, the military evacuated 1,100 people from the flood areas in the south of Poland. It is noted that the evacuation was carried out with the help of helicopters, boats and rescue vehicles. September 21, the head of the province Maciej Avizhen at a meeting of the crisis headquarters said that the damage from the floods amounted to almost $ 1 billion.
