Rosgvardiya officers found a Ukrainian "deception" drone in the Kursk region

Specialists of the Rosgvardiya engineering unit have discovered a "decoy" drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Kursk Region. This was reported by the press service of the agency on September 23.
Rosgvardia specialists received information that a drone had fallen near a settlement in the region. Arriving at the scene, the Rosgvardeys found a decoy drone of the airplane type.
The agency explained that the AFU uses such drones to search for weaknesses in the air defense system (ADS) of the Russian Armed Forces (AF). In addition, they can serve as a distraction before the launch of real combat UAVs. The Ukrainian military sometimes sends one to two dozen decoys.
"Such drones are made of cheap parts, they do not have high-quality cameras and other additional radio transmitting devices. In addition, the AFU fighters put foil on such UAVs to maximize their glow on our radars," said one of the Rosgvardia sappers.
According to the military officer, the AFU hunts sappers and civilians by putting electronics on combat drones that react to movement. In addition, the Ukrainians can, for example, use one drone to pierce the roof of a building, and through the hole launch another drone into the attic, which will detonate when someone comes to fix the roof or carry out demining.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Airborne Troops (VDV) units from the North force grouping thwarted an attempt by the AFU to break through the border into Kursk Region and destroyed concentrations of enemy personnel and military equipment. In particular, the AFU lost two tanks and four Kozak armored combat vehicles (ACVs).
Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The operation to destroy the AFU continues. For the entire time of fighting in the region, the Ukrainian army has lost up to 16.4 thousand military personnel.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
