Ex-lawyer Pashayev, suspected of fraud, has appealed his arrest

Former lawyer Elman Pashayev, who is suspected of committing fraud on a large scale, decided to appeal against his arrest. This was reported in the Moscow Garrison Military Court on September 23.

"Pashayev's appeal has been registered in the court's clerk's office," the source told TASS.

In turn, in the professional lawyer community, Pashayev's personality has long not been associated with legal activity. Lawyer Elena Senina told Izvestia that the defense lawyer in custody at the moment is just a physical person.

"We can't talk about his belonging to the lawyer's community. This is just a citizen, just a physical person who does not have the status of a lawyer. As far as I know, his background was expressed in the fact that this status he had and has already been terminated four times for his violation of the status of a lawyer," - said the specialist.

Whether Pashayev is guilty or not guilty, it is impossible to say now due to the presumption of innocence. For this purpose, a judicial or other procedural decision should come into force, said Senina.

Earlier, on September 18, Pashayev was taken to the military garrison court in Moscow for consideration of the fraud case. Later it was decided to remand the ex-lawyer in custody until November 15. He was taken from the courtroom in a car to the detention center, Izvestiya correspondent reported.

September 17, it became known that a criminal case was opened against Pashayev under Part 4 of Article 159 ("Fraud committed on a large scale"). The amount of damage amounted to Br18.5 million and $300 thousand. The ex-lawyer was detained. According to investigators, in February, Pashayev at a meeting with the husband of blogger Elena Blinovskaya Alexei Blinovsky convinced him of his ability to release his wife from criminal responsibility for a large sum. Blinovsky, in turn, gave Pashayev the funds.

In April 2023, blogger Blinovskaya was detained on suspicion of fraud for non-payment of taxes. For about a year she was under house arrest. At the end of January this year Blinovskaya was sent to custody. Her husband Alexei was also a defendant in the criminal case, who was charged with complicity in tax evasion and money laundering on a large scale. In April this year, it became known that he signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to participate in the SVO. Pashayev also served with him.

On September 12, it became known that Alexei Blinovsky was detained in the special operation zone. The details and the reason for the arrest are unknown.

"Izvestia" on September 17 established that, according to the data of the register of lawyers of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, Pashayev was registered as a lawyer six times - in the Krasnodar region, twice in Moscow, in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District and twice in North Ossetia. His license has now been suspended in all regions. He does not have the current status of a lawyer.
