Blinken told about the U.S. promise to prepare Ukraine for winter

TheUSA and its allies plan to prepare Ukraine ' s energy system for the upcoming winter. This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Monday, September 23, during a ministerial meeting of the G7 countries (G7).
"We know that the coming winter will be challenging. That's why our countries are cooperating every day to provide Ukraine with everything it needs to overcome the upcoming winter period," Blinken said, the recording of whose speech was published on the YouTube channel of the US State Department.
He also drew attention to the fact that the partners have spent a large sum to resolve this issue - about $4 billion.
Earlier, on September 21, Verkhovna Rada deputy Yelizaveta Yasko said that Ukrainians should prepare for the worst this winter. According to her, Western partners will help the country, but their assistance will not be enough.
On 20 September, the executive director of the International Energy Agency, Fatil Birol, said that due to the damage and destruction of a large number of thermal power plants (TPPs) , Ukraine is expecting a hard winter. He believes that as a sign of solidarity, European citizens can reduce their own demand for electricity so that it flows to Ukrainian territories.
The day before, the European Commission (EC) said that Ukraine has lost half of its energy infrastructure, or about 9 GW of capacity, its population may be left without heating and water in winter. The European Union (EU) countries intend to provide Kiev with about 4.5 GW of energy this winter and restore about 15% of energy facilities to meet the country's needs.
The special operation to protect Donbass continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region due to shelling by Ukrainian troops.
