Sobyanin told about the opening of a new streetcar line

A new double-track streetcar line 860 meters long has been put into operation on Sergia Radonezhsky Street. A new streetcar route No. 2 will run along it, which will connect six capital districts, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin told the official portal of the capital government.
"After the launch of this line, 700 thousand residents will have the opportunity to go to the Garden Ring. This is, of course, a big plus - from Perov to Sadovoye. We will then extend this line further to the Ivanovskoye district, because there are also about 100 thousand residents there. They have neither subway nor streetcar, only automobile transport", - noted the capital city governor.
The works on Sergius of Radonezh Street were carried out from March to September 2024. During the construction of the new streetcar line they applied the technology of seamless laying of tracks without joints, used rubber seals and special vibration-isolating mats. Thanks to this, the streetcars will move quietly and smoothly. The new tracks occupy a separate right-of-way and are separated from the roadway. In addition, Sergiy Radonezhsky Street itself was also improved: a new comfortable pedestrian route appeared here, modern streetlights and navigation steles were installed.
