In Spain, criminals impersonating Brad Pitt were apprehended

In Spain, five people posing as a famous American actor Brad Pitt, arrested for extortion of € 325 thousand from two women. This was reported on September 23 by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country on its website.

During the investigation it was found that the criminals contacted their victims on the Internet, rubbed into their confidence, making them believe that they have a romantic relationship with Brad Pitt. Then, under false pretenses, the attackers forced the victims to invest in commercial projects.

"It was possible to find, block and return €85 thousand of the total amount of money stolen from the two victims", - stated in the message.

Law enforcers conducted five house searches and seized several cell phones, bank cards, prepaid phone cards, two personal computers and documentation, including an agenda that noted the phrases with which the fraudsters deceived their victims.

The operation to catch the criminals began in August 2023.

Earlier, on September 11, in the Republic of Tyva, an 11-year-old girl played the "Guess the blogger" game and gave her mother's savings to the scammers. It is specified that they managed to steal 80 thousand rubles from the bank account.

September 10, law enforcement agencies detained two young men in Moscow , who were involved in the embezzlement of Br10 million. During the investigation it was established that the 18-year-old young man, together with a friend, helped the swindlers to steal money from pensioners. The second detainee had also previously stolen Br5.6 million from an 85-year-old pensioner.
