Poland says civilian patrols to protect against migrants have been introduced

So-called civilian patrols have appeared in Poland to protect local residents from migrants. This was reported by the magazine Krytyka polityczna on September 23.
"Kostiań, Kurnik, Sjrem, Sjroda Wielkopolska, Zanemysl - in recent days in these Polish cities appeared civilian patrols," - stated in the material.
It is emphasized that the patrols are groups of young people who unite to protect local communities from the perceived threat of migrants.
According to the publication, the creation of such patrols was influenced by physical clashes between groups of Poles and migrants from Latin America.
ePoznan.pl specifies that the first such patrol was formed in Kurnik by local MMA fighter Rafal Podejma, who also runs a YouTube channel. In one of the videos, he urged Poles to remain calm during the patrol, as well as to beware of provocateurs and not to confront police officers.
Earlier, August 27, Belarusian border guards found three migrants from Cameroon on the border with Poland. According to the Cameroonians, the Polish law enforcers detained and beat them in response to a request for asylum.
May 18, law enforcement officers of Poland beat up five migrants from Somalia and threw them out through the Belarusian border. They were found by Belarusian border guards, who provided first aid, as well as called an ambulance and an investigation team.
Before that, May 14, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the country would not accept illegal migrants within the framework of the "Migration Pact," adopted by the Council of the European Union (EU). He emphasized that Poland voted against the "Migration Pact". The prime minister also noted that the previous Polish government had also negotiated this pact.
