Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has recalled Polad Bulbuloglu from the post of the country's ambassador to Moscow. The corresponding order was signed by the head of state on September 23 and published on his official website.

"On the basis of paragraph 15 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan I make a decision: Polad Bulbuloglu should be recalled from the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation," the text of the document reads.

Prior to that, on August 18, Polad Bulbuloglu himself said that he was ending his diplomatic mission in Russia after 18.5 years of work. The diplomat said that he would like to go to his native land, where he is going to continue working. As the 79-year-old ambassador noted, he would like to devote time to communicating with the people and nature of his homeland. He also reminded that his father, famous Soviet and Azerbaijani opera singer Bülbül, was born in Shusha, Karabakh, so his decision is absolutely natural.

On the same day, he indicated that Azerbaijan would like to join BRICS. The Ambassador noted that this desire has already been discussed with Russian colleagues and the issue is in the works.
