The AdG called the election results in Brandenburg a public castration of the CDU

The elections to the state parliament in Brandenburg deprived the Christian Democratic Union of Germany party of influence. Christoph Berndt, head of the Alternative for Germany (AdG) faction in the Brandenburg parliament, said at a party briefing on September 23.

"Haters of Germany, the Green Party and the Left have been thrown out of the [Brandenburg] parliament. The same goes for the Free Voters party, who served the government of [Brandenburg state premier] Dietmar Woidke in a very unsightly way. [This election] exposed the cartel of parties in power here - the public castration of the CDU party is particularly telling," the politician said.

AdG co-chairwoman Alice Weidel clarified that their party has had three successful election campaigns and is also the only party that has been consistently successful. Noting the number of votes for Alternative for Germany from young people (16-25 years old), she stated that the party has a successful future ahead of it.

AdG co-chair Tino Hrupalla called the victory in Brandenburg of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) the result of collusion with other parties.

"The fact that (Saxony) Premier (Michael Kretschmer) is calling for the election of Woidke, thus stabbing his own CDU party in the back, shows: there is only one common election campaign - against the AdG. And it is no longer about the content of party programs, but only about keeping the AdG out of power and out of government. They may have succeeded this time, but it will not work in the long run," the politician said.

According to the results of the Brandenburg state parliamentary elections held on Sunday, September 22, Chancellor Olaf Scholz's SPD party won with 30.9 percent of the vote, ahead of the far-right AdG with 29.2 percent.
