Aleksey Reshetun, a specialist in educational and methodological work of the multi-disciplinary accreditation and simulation center of the Pirogov Russian National Research Institute of Medical Sciences, explained the health risks of an incorrectly selected mattress.
In a conversation with the site aif.ru on Monday, September 23, Reshetun pointed out that first of all, the wrong choice of mattress threatens unpleasant sensations after waking up. For example, you can wake up with unpleasant pain sensations in the lumbar region. He explained that in this case there may be a strain on the muscles and ligaments: the muscles may not rest overnight, so a person wakes up with an already sore back.
In addition, sleeping on an inappropriate mattress can cause exacerbation of chronic conditions, such as a herniated disc.
When choosing a mattress, he urged, in particular, to take into account age, the presence of diseases, the state of muscles, Pravda.Ru notes.
On September 13, Reshetun noted that only a properly selected mattress can ensure relaxation of skeletal muscles during a long sleep. He emphasized that when choosing a mattress, it is necessary to lie on it in different positions to understand whether it will be comfortable to sleep on it, RT writes.
