The Russian government supported a ban on propaganda of the Childfree ideology

The Government of the Russian Federation has supported a bill on banning the propaganda of the Childfree movement, which is characterized by a conscious refusal to procreate. This was reported by TASS on September 23 with reference to the Cabinet of Ministers' review.
"The concept of the bill, aimed at preserving and strengthening traditional Russian spiritual and moral values and creating an effective mechanism to protect them, deserves attention. The Government of the Russian Federation supports the bill subject to taking into account the comment to the second reading," - is indicated in the document.
The material also notes that before amending the administrative code requires clarifying the criteria for the concept of "refusal of childbearing".
The author of the bill was a member of the State Duma Committee on Education and a member of the party "United Russia" Elvira Aitkulova.
The ban on the ideology of Childfree began to be considered by the Russian government back in 2022. Thus, on September 7, deputies of the State Duma introduced a bill that would prohibit the initiation of children and teenagers under the age of 18 into the ideology of childlessness. This year, the topic has regained popularity, and on June 27, Deputy Justice Minister Vsevolod Vukolov said that the movement wants to ban it altogether in the country. According to the politician, it is necessary to build a legislative system capable of countering these trends both in Russia and in countries that share its values.
On the same day, Duma deputy Yana Lantratova said that this ideology is selfish and destructive, while a strong family should be the basis of a strong country. She also reminded that Russia is a social state and the authorities constantly talk about the importance of demographic development.
