Fraudsters are creating fake charity websites asking gullible Russians to make donations. Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy , told RIA Novosti on September 23.

According to the deputy, recently cases of deception in this way have become more frequent. Thus, attackers offer people to make donations ostensibly to help victims of natural disasters or patients with serious diseases.

At the same time, the web pages created by scammers look very convincing. As a rule, photos of real people and their stories are posted on them.

"However, all the funds collected are directed into the pockets of scammers, not to help those in need, so any information published on the Web should be carefully checked," Nemkin warned.

Earlier, on September 21, Dmitry Galov, head of Kaspersky GReAT in Russia, said that fraudsters on behalf of relatives can send greeting cards in messengers that contain phishing sites. In this way, attackers can send malware to users in messengers under the guise of an archive.
