The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is "fending off and not in a hurry" to continue the investigation into the assassination attempts on former US President Donald Trump. This was stated by Michael Waltz, a member of the House panel investigating the assassination attempt, to the Fox News Sunday program on September 22.

Waltz praised the fact that the Secret Service showed willingness to investigate, while the FBI, more than two months after the assassination attempt, did not do so.

"The Secret Service is open about its errors in relaying instructions to local [police officers] with appropriate command centers. On the other hand, the FBI is completely shutting out our task force," Waltz said.

Waltz said he would like to see FBI Director Christopher Wray and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas hold a press conference similar to the one recently held by the Secret Service.

"We still know virtually nothing about Thomas Matthew Crooks, the Butler shooter, about his encrypted accounts, about how he learned to build improvised explosive devices," the Republican noted.

On Thursday, Sept. 19, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson said the few documents the FBI provided to lawmakers were "heavily redacted," Fox News wrote.

Earlier on Sept. 20, the U.S. Secret Service acknowledged coordination errors during the Trump assassination attempt. Acting Director Ronald Rowe said during a briefing that the Secret Service did not give clear instructions to local law enforcement agencies, it can not shift responsibility.

Before that, on September 17, the media learned about the mistake of the Secret Service during the second attempted assassination attempt on Trump. It is reported that the security service did not check the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, before Trump's arrival.

The second attempted assassination attempt on Trump was made on September 15: there was a shooting near the golf club in West Palm Beach. It was specified that Trump was 500 meters from the epicenter of the incident.

The US presidential candidate later reported that he was not injured in the shooting and is safe. Trump thanked his supporters for their support. Several police cars were on duty outside his international hotel in Nevada after the incident.

So far, the suspect in the alleged attempted assassination of Trump, Ryan Wesley Routh, has been charged with two counts of firearms related charges.

The first assassination attempt on Trump occurred on July 13 when he was holding a campaign rally. The former U.S. leader was shot in the ear on a tangential trajectory. As a result of the shooting, one of the spectators was killed and two other people were wounded. The attacker was eliminated by return fire from an FBI sniper.
