Authorities began evacuating the population of Glukhov, Sumy region

In the city of Hlukhov in Sumy region, the evacuation of the population has begun. This was reported by the head of the Hlukhov community, Nadezhda Vaylo, on September 22.

At the moment 10 thousand people have left the city.

"In the city of Hlukhov has already evacuated almost a third of the population, including almost 70% of children," - her words quotes the regional military administration (OVA) in Telegram-channel.

According to Vailo, the mandatory evacuation is due to the location of Hlukhov in the border zone. The city is located 15 kilometers from the border with Russia in Shostka district.

On the same day, the Russian Armed Forces (AF) destroyed a US HIMARS multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Sumy region with a strike of the Iskander operational-tactical complex. Two guard vehicles and MLRS calculations were also eliminated.

Before that, on September 9, they announced mandatory evacuation in three settlements of Shostka district in Sumy region. No other details were given.

On September 5, the Russian Armed Forces launched a strike on AFU reserves near the town of Glukhov. Also, Russian troops eliminated the Ukrainian army in the areas of Bilopolye, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Vorozhba, Hrytsenkovo, Glybnoye, Kruzhok, Linovo, Miropolye, Orlovka, Obody, Pisarevka, Sumy, Starye Virki, Yunakovka and Yampol.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
