Scientist Mark Abelev died at the 90th year of his life

Soviet and Russian scientist in the field of construction technologies, Doctor of Technical Sciences, laureate of the USSR State Prize Mark Abelev died at the age of 89. Information about his death on Sunday, September 22, confirmed "Izvestia" scientist's son Konstantin.

According to him, his father by virtue of age had many diseases that led to death.

Mark Abelev was a graduate of the Kuibyshev Moscow Engineering and Construction Institute (now the National Research Moscow State Construction University) and the largest specialist in the field of erecting buildings on quicksand.

In 1966-1976 he was married to Galina Volchek, People's Artist of the USSR, director and actress. Later the scientist married for the second time and became a father.

Abelev took part in the reconstruction of the Maly Theater building, the foundations of which were washed away by the waters of the Neglinnaya River. Since 2012, he headed the Center for Innovative Technologies in Construction at the Higher School of Economics. In addition, he was a professor at the Department of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnics of the Institute of Hydraulic and Power Engineering of the National Research University of Moscow State University of Science and Technology and ran his own firm.
