- The Times pointed to the AFU's recognition of the inevitability of losing Krasnoarmeysk

The Ukrainian Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are in an extremely difficult situation near Krasnoarmeysk (Ukrainian name: Pokrovsk) in the Ukrainian-controlled part of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was reported by The Times on September 22, citing a statement by a Ukrainian commander of a tank unit of the 68th Brigade with the call sign Physik.
"Despite the fact that Pokrovsk remains under Ukrainian control as a logistical hub, it can already be called lost," the Ukrainian military officer said.
According to Fizik, the Russian Armed Forces have cut off three main roads and advanced enough to be able to control the movement of the AFU with artillery and drones.
"We can't accumulate enough forces, enough infantry units for a counteroffensive, meaning we are forced to defend all the time and slowly, if there is no other possibility of not being surrounded or something else, slowly withdraw," he added.
Earlier, on September 20, the adviser to the head of the DNR, Igor Kimakovsky, said that the Russian Armed Forces had cut the AFU's railroad connection to Pokrovsk. According to him, it is now impossible to bring personnel and ammunition there by rail.
Prior to that, on September 19, the Supercam unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet (PF) of the Vostok group of forces, together with the Grad multiple rocket launcher system (MLRS), successfully destroyed Ukrainian army equipment hidden in hangars in the South Donetsk direction.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
