Air defense forces shot down AFU drone over Kursk region

Russian air defense forces have destroyed a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) over the Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on September 22.

"At about 9:15 Moscow time, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack with the use of aircraft-type UAVs on objects on the territory of the Russian Federation was foiled. The Ukrainian UAV was destroyed over the territory of the Kursk region by the air defense forces on duty," the ministry said in a statement in its Telegram channel.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that overnight air defense means destroyed 15 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions and the waters of the Sea of Azov. Thus, six UAVs were shot down over the waters of the Sea of Azov, four - over the territory of Rostov region, two - over the territory of Kursk region, one each - over the territories of Astrakhan, Belgorod and Voronezh regions.

On the eve of September 21, the ministry said that air defense means during the night eliminated 101 AFU drones over Russian regions and the Sea of Azov.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
