Moscow 's Zamoskvoretskyy court has found that the creator of the Mashina Vremeni group, Andrey Makarevich (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia), is engaged in political activities in the interests of Ukraine. This was reported by TASS on Sunday, September 22, citing a court statement.

"Makarevich is recognized as an individual performing the functions of a foreign agent, as he carried out political activities. In the column "Information on foreign sources" is indicated "Ukraine"," the document reads.

According to the court decision, the Main Department for Counteraction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation confirmed that the musician was engaged in political activity in the interests of a foreign source. This was expressed in his interviews for the media-foreign agents, distributed in social networks.

In addition, it is noted that Makarevich published materials related to the subject of the special military operation in Ukraine, in which he disseminated negative opinions about the decisions taken by the state authorities of the Russian Federation and their representatives.

Earlier, on June 4, it was reported that employees of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia launched an investigative check against Makarevich after his conversation with the pranksters on the phone. The check was conducted to determine whether his words contained signs of Article 280 of the Criminal Code (CC) of the Russian Federation ("Public calls for extremist activity).

Prankers Vovan (Vladimir Kuznetsov) and Lexus (Alexei Stolyarov) called the musician on May 13 on behalf of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. In a conversation with them, the musician admitted that he wishes "victory" for Ukraine in the conflict with Russia and "counts the days" before that.

The pranksters also asked whether Makarevich supports the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The latter admitted that he does not sponsor the Ukrainian army, but did not rule out funding the AFU in the future.

The day after the conversation, it also became known that the creator of the band "Mashina Vremeni" faces a criminal case for violating the rules of foreign agent activity. In case of a criminal case, the musician may face up to two years.

Earlier, on May 13, State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev proposed to recognize the musician as an extremist and terrorist for the artist's statements in support of Ukraine. He added that he had prepared a corresponding appeal to the chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin.

According to the mass media, a similar appeal was sent to the Investigative Committee, the Prosecutor-General's Office and the State Duma on the same day by the all-Russian public organization Veterans of Russia.
