An expert spoke about the signs of fraud in the sphere of legal services

Aggressive advertising of legal services is likely to indicate fraud. It is also important to be attentive to companies that try to create the appearance of links with government agencies or law enforcement structures. Andrei Misarov, the chairman of the Moscow Bar Association "Advokat" Andrey Misarov told Gazeta.Ru in an interview on September 22 .

"A large number of enthusiastic reviews can be a marketing move. A real professional never guarantees the result before he studies the case and all the documents," the expert said.

The expert said that citizens should be wary of a law firm's offer of unique methods of solving complex cases. He reminded that the lawyer should clearly explain the possible prospects of the case, but cannot guarantee the outcome.

Misarov added that payment for legal services should be calculated depending on the complexity of the work, and not be fixed with the promise of "turnkey".

He also pointed out the need to scrutinize the contract before signing it, because the "typical" terms of the document may turn out to be unfair.

"The important thing is to get to know the lawyer who will handle the case, not the manager who concludes the contract. It is optimal to prescribe payment by stages, so that it is possible to refuse services at any stage if they are not performed," Misarov emphasized.

The expert also recommended to check information about the lawyer or company on the official websites of the Ministry of Justice or the Bar Association.

Earlier, on September 14, Pavel Myasoedov, director of IT-Reserve, told about a new way to fight fraudsters in banks' applications.
