Alaudinov told about the destruction of an AFU tank during an attempted breakthrough in the Kursk region

An attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to break through in Kursk Region ended with the destruction of their tank. Major General Apty Alaudinov, deputy head of the Main Military and Political Department of the Russian Armed Forces and commander of the Akhmat special forces, said in his Telegram channel on Sunday, September 22.

"From the right side of our flank today in the direction of Plekhovo the enemy tried to go in a tank. A tank got there, our adjacent units [burned it]. Then they jumped up there on a BBM (armored combat vehicle. - Ed.), dropped off eight people, turned around, gave a run for their money, then the boys were busy destroying eight people," he said.

According to Alaudinov, all day the special forces fighters resisted persistent attempts of the AFU to break through to one of the strongholds of the Russian army. The enemy failed, the Ukrainian side suffered serious losses as a result.

"In the Sujan direction, in total, our units, through joint efforts with our adjacent units, destroyed three mortars, one BBM, one pickup truck with infantry, and a minibus today," Alaudinov listed.

The Russian army is keeping the situation under control and has managed to advance in the Kursk direction, he added.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crews of the "North" group of troops in one of the border areas of the Kursk region had struck positions of the Ukrainian army.

At the same time it became known that the crew of the Su-34 fighter-bomber of the Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS) destroyed the AFU's manpower and armored vehicles in the border area of the Kursk region with precise strikes.

Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The operation to destroy the AFU continues. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
