- In Paris, thousands of people protested against the new composition of Barnier's government

In Paris, thousands of people took to the streets in protest against the composition of the new government of Michel Barnier. This was reported by BFM TV channel on Saturday, September 21.
The channel reports that this is the second anti-government protest after the appointment of Emmanuel Macron as Prime Minister of France Michel Barnier. This time the French express disagreement with the composition of the new government, which, in their opinion, is too right-wing, while in the elections to the legislative bodies of the country won the left-wing coalition. In particular, this concerns the candidate for the post of Minister of Interior, Bruno Retayo, whom the protesters accuse of racism and homophobia.
The rally is organized by the party "Unconquered France", which introduced a resolution to impeach Macron to the bureau of the national assembly (lower house of parliament. - Ed.), as well as student unions, feminist and alterglobalist organizations.
"I am here because this is not what we cast our votes for. The prime minister represents a party that barely got any votes in the election. I'm furious: what's the point of voting then?" - are quoted as saying by one of the protesters.
According to BFM TV's police source, between 20,000 and 40,000 protesters are expected in Paris this Saturday. At the previous protest, held on September 7, according to the French Interior Ministry, 26 thousand people came. At the same time, "Unconquered France" counted 160 thousand protesters at the last action.
Ex-European Commissioner and former head of the French Foreign Ministry Barnier was appointed the new Prime Minister of France on September 5. On the same day, Sergei Fedorov, a leading researcher at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, noted in a conversation with Izvestia that Michel Barnier, a member of the Republican Party who suits the moderate right and moderate left, is the last candidate who more or less fits into Macron's scenario.
French parliamentary elections ended July 8 with a victory for the New Popular Front. The bloc of left-wing parties won 182 seats in the national assembly, while the right-wing coalition led by the National Rally won 143 seats. The presidential coalition Together for the Republic won 168 seats.
No political force won a majority to form a government.
On July 23, the New Popular Front nominated Lucie Caste as prime minister. Macron rejected the candidacy, which displeased the leftist bloc, which announced its intention to impeach the president.
