The AFU lost more than 15.5 thousand people during the fighting in the Kursk direction

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost more than 15.65 thousand troops and 124 tanks during the entire period of hostilities in the border areas of Kursk region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Saturday, September 21.

"Over the day, the AFU losses amounted to more than 300 servicemen and nine armored vehicles, including an infantry fighting vehicle, two armored personnel carriers and six armored fighting vehicles, as well as six artillery pieces, a launcher and a transport-loading vehicle of US-made HIMARS MLRS," the ministry said.

In addition, a radio electronic warfare (REB) station, an engineering demolition vehicle, an armored recovery vehicle and seven vehicles were destroyed.

During the entire period of fighting in the Kursk direction, the Ukrainian army lost more than 15.65 thousand troops, 124 tanks, 786 armored combat vehicles, 95 armored personnel carriers (APCs), 57 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), 121 artillery guns, 478 vehicles, 29 multiple rocket launchers (MLRS), including eight HIMARS and six US-made MLRS, and many other vehicles.

Earlier, on September 19, it was reported that the Rosgvardiya destroyed about 30 pieces of AFU equipment in the Kursk region. Six tanks, more than 10 armored fighting vehicles and more than 10 units of nationalist vehicles were destroyed.

Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in the border area of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The operation to destroy AFU formations continues.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
