Every second Sunday in July, the Russian Post celebrates its holiday, an organization with a rich history that makes postal services accessible to residents of the most remote corners of the country. In 2025, this date falls on July 13th. Izvestia tells about the traditions of the holiday and how to congratulate on the Day of the Russian Post.

The history of the Russian Post Day holiday

The history of the state postal service dates back to the reign of Peter I. Although the first mentions of mail are found in written monuments of ancient times. However, regular postal service in Russia dates back to the reforms of the reformer tsar.

In 1693, by decree of Peter the Great, the first route was created that connected settlements from Moscow to Arkhangelsk. This document regulated the conditions of transportation of mail, the equipment of inns (pits), the uniform of coachmen, as well as responsibilities for the construction and maintenance of roads. Shortly after the historic decree was issued, the first post offices appeared, and then the first mailboxes for letters were installed.

The Russian Post Day was established in honor of the 300th anniversary of the establishment of the postal service in Russia. The holiday is intended to show the high importance of the industry for the country and to celebrate the role of its employees, who annually receive about 2.6 billion letters and invoices and process almost 400 million parcels.

How to celebrate Russian Post Day

On this day, congratulations are accepted by all employees of the post office, regardless of their position. These are employees of the warehouse, distribution centers, logistics departments and the transport service. And, of course, postmen who deliver letters and correspondence to homes at any time of the year and weather.

Traditionally, concerts and cultural events are organized on the holiday. Congratulatory words from the leadership and heads of relevant ministries and departments are also needed. Those who have distinguished themselves are awarded with diplomas and prizes. Feasts are organized in the teams. They often take place in nature, because it is not for nothing that the holiday is celebrated on a weekend in the summer.

Russian Post Day is often marked by the release of collector's series of stamps and charity events. So, a few years ago, Russian Post launched a landing page where you can not only find out about the everyday life of the company's employees, but also send a postcard "Happy Russian Post Day" with a charity vignette. Part of the proceeds from the purchase are transferred to the Enbi Foundation, which helps children with cancer.

Congratulations on Russian Post Day in 2025

On the holiday, congratulations are accepted by all specialists working in the postal sector. Izvestia provides several examples of wishes and gifts for the culprits of the celebration:

"Congratulations on Russian Post Day! May your mailboxes always be filled with kindness, and every shipment brings joy and smiles to the recipients. We wish you good health, professional success and new achievements!"

"Happy Russian Post Day! We wish you good health, career and personal growth, success and inspiration! May your work continue to unite people, making our world a little closer and warmer. Thank you for your hard work and dedication!"

"Happy Russian Post Day! I wish you to send only good news and receive a lot of positive messages! May your life be as reliable and fast as the postal express, and in every corner of the world there will be someone who is waiting for your letter!"

On a professional holiday, postal workers wish to receive only good news and letters, parcels that always arrive on time, personal well-being and prosperity. When choosing a gift, you can give preference to practical things that will create comfort in the workplace, or proceed from the personal interests of the recipient.

These can be souvenirs with the words "Russian Post" or "Happy Russian Post Day", stationery and confectionery sets or gift certificates. The latter option is the most versatile, since you don't have to worry about whether you like the gift or not, and the person responsible for the celebration will be able to choose what he likes.

Earlier in July, the Day of the Civil Aviation Flight Attendant was celebrated. Izvestia told about the history and traditions of this holiday.
