Along with other construction professionals, crane operators were annually congratulated on the second Sunday of August, Builder's Day.

This professional holiday was approved in 2015 on the initiative of the Association of Lifting and Transport Equipment Enterprises of Russia. An important regulatory act, the order of the Ministry of Labor dated June 4, 2014, which approved the professional standard for crane operators, also contributed to the emergence.

This was explained by the fact that not all crane operators are employed at the construction site. Many work in ports, warehouses, or factories, loading and unloading containers, railroad cars, and ships. And therefore, they are not involved in the Day of the Builder.

Since Crane Operator's Day is a relatively young holiday, it has not managed to acquire its own traditions. In addition, summer is always a busy season, and many representatives of the profession spend it on construction sites or production. Most often, crane operators are honored within the team, limited to a small buffet. At some enterprises, crane operators can expect to receive a bonus for the holiday.

For several years, there have been talks about holding professional skill contests and other events for Crane Operator's Day. But so far, this idea has not found widespread support within the country.

In some cities, flash mobs are organized on social networks on a festive date. Crane operators share their impressions of their work, talk about their wishes and post colorful photos with sunsets and panoramic views taken from the height of the tower crane. This confirms that the hard-working profession is not devoid of romance.
