Gardeners, gardeners and flower growers use the lunar sowing calendar when planting plants. The influence of different phases of the moon on the growth of greenery was discovered in ancient times. Long-term observations of the Earth's satellite helped to identify the days most favorable for sowing various crops and other gardening activities. In addition, moonlight directly affects the development of some plants and living organisms. The first summer month for gardeners and gardeners is often filled with numerous and diverse jobs. The sowing calendar for June 2025 is available in the Izvestia article.

Moon phases in June 2025: landing schedule

The lunar calendar of sowing and planting is an accurate description of gardening activities for each day. Scientists agree that such a calendar was used by the most ancient landowners of the Stone Age. The mystical powers of the moon are given special importance in Asian countries.

The creation of the lunar calendar is attributed to the inhabitants of Mesopotamia, the Sumerians. It was this ancient people who first noticed the pattern with which the Moon appears in the sky in its various phases. The principle of making a sowing calendar is based on the lunar phases: new moon, full moon, waning and waxing moon. At the same time, the lunar month is shorter than the solar month and has 29.5 days, the period between two new moons.

From a scientific point of view, the Earth's natural satellite does have its influence on certain processes, some plants and bacteria develop only during certain phases of the Moon. There are several types of organisms that require only moonlight for photosynthesis. In addition, the phases of the satellite affect the geomagnetic disturbance of the Earth and the metabolism of living beings.

The lunar calendar of sowing and planting provides gardeners with an accurate and detailed description of the work for each day. Nevertheless, following the lunar sowing calendar does not guarantee a good harvest, the final result consists of many other factors. Among all the lunar phases, the new moon is considered the most unsuitable time for planting crops.

The growing Moon, on the contrary, gives gardeners a favorable time for planting and cutting — at this time, plants tend to grow from the root system upward to branches and fruits, rather than to strengthen in the ground. Agronomists do not recommend transplanting crops during the full moon: at this time, weeding and loosening should be preferred.

On the contrary, the waning Moon is the best time to sow and transplant any crops.

Each month, the lunar periods fall on different dates. In June 2025, the phases of the moon will be distributed as follows:

— the waxing Moon — from 1 to 10 and from 26 to 30 June;

— full moon — June 11;

— Waning Moon — from 12 to 24 June;

— the new moon is on June 25th.

Plants, flowers, and other agricultural crops planted during the full moon are at risk of becoming weak, painful, and not yielding crops. On the eve of the new moon, one should also not engage in agricultural work related to sowing and planting, diving, loosening, hoeing, and fertilizing. On new moon and full moon it is better to carry out weeding of beds from weeds, to do watering.

Vegetables, trees, flowers and shrubs are usually planted on the growing moon. At this time, you can also engage in loosening the soil, spraying plants.

Root crops and bulbous plants are planted on the waning moon. It is undesirable to pick seedlings, transplant, vaccinate and loosen the soil during this period. If potatoes grow well during the full moon in the Urals, this does not mean that one should expect rapid growth of strawberries in hydroponics during the same period in Moscow.

Experts recommend treating the lunar sowing calendar as a specific recommendation system, rather than as a magic pill. This system should be adapted to individual conditions and take into account the specifics of the region.

Even in one region, the timing of agricultural activities constantly differs by 2-3 weeks, that is, by 2-3 lunar phases. This may be influenced by air temperature, terrain features, or soil conditions, which are more important than the lunar rhythm.

When to plant and harvest in June 2025

June is the most suitable time for working with garden plants and planting seedlings with a closed root system. In the first month of summer, experts recommend fertilizing black currants and strawberries, propagating berry and ornamental shrubs.

In recent years, spring has not been pleasant at all with the weather, and many summer tasks are shifted a few weeks later, Anastasia Ogor, an expert in gardening and horticulture, author of the Vegetable Garden on the Couch blog, told Izvestia.

— Now is the time to plant seedlings. It is already possible to start planting some crops in the open ground. However, it is still necessary to cover the beds at night, since the newly planted plants have already been subjected to severe stress for them, and temperature fluctuations can negatively affect their survival," the expert explained.

According to the gardener, in late May and early June it's time to plant pumpkins, squash and squash. In the first half of June comes the ideal time for sowing herbs — dill and parsley, as well as planting onions on greens. At the same time, it is better not to rush with cucumbers for the open ground, since the most optimal time for them will begin from the second week of June.

— Do not be afraid to plant seedlings a little later. When a plant gets into the warmed-up ground and does not feel the sharp differences between night and day temperatures, it grows and develops many times faster than plants that were planted earlier and subjected to stress. June, especially its first half, is very busy for any gardener. In addition to planting seedlings in the open ground, it's time to take care of greenhouse plantings: tying up and pickling tomatoes, shaping plants, fertilizing, and in some cases pollination," Anastasia Ogor said.

Also, the beginning of June is the best time to work in the garden: you can plant absolutely all the flowers that have been waiting for warmth. Don't forget about the fruit trees. Ogor emphasizes that they need regular treatments for diseases and pests. June is the best time to process the "pink cone" (a gardener's term meaning the condition of the bud before flowering. — Ed.).

During the beginning of flowering, when the bud appears, the treatment is carried out with a tank mixture, which includes several drugs that protect against diseases and pests. The next treatment also falls in June, which is carried out at the end of flowering, when only 20% of the flowers remain on the tree. It is made with a similar mixture, or with separate preparations for a specific fruit crop.

In June, agronomists also recommend thinning the crops and watering the beds. The first summer month often brings with it the first fruits, in June you can pick radishes, herbs, lettuce. Harvesting should be timely so that too long maturation in the garden does not spoil the taste.

Lunar sowing calendar for June 2025 for gardeners and gardeners

To ensure the most favorable conditions for growing crops in the garden and in the vegetable garden, it is necessary to follow the recommendations of the lunar sowing calendar. Thus, June 17-20 is considered the most favorable month for gardening.

In June 2025, the following days are considered unfavorable for planting and disembarking plants according to the lunar calendar: 1, 2, 10, 11, as well as the period from June 25 to June 30. The most unfortunate ones will be the full moon on June 11 and the new moon on June 25. On these dates, the lunar phases do not promote good crop growth, so sowing operations may be less effective.

In addition, June 13 (the waning Moon), June 21 (the last quarter of the moon) and June 28 (the waxing Moon) are considered unfavorable for planting, as plants during these periods are more vulnerable to stress and manipulation. These days, it is recommended to focus on caring for planted plants: weeding, loosening the soil, applying fertilizers, treating pests and diseases, as well as watering and preparing the soil.

Sowing calendar of gardening and gardening works by day for June 2025:

— June 1-2: suitable time for planting shrubs, weeding, loosening, pruning fruit trees, sowing annuals and applying fertilizers.

— June 3-4: seedlings can be planted in the open ground, mulching strawberries, watering vegetables, transplanting seedlings, preparing a lawn area.

— June 5-6: planting of roses and tuberous plants, sowing of vegetables and herbs are favorable; it is better to postpone the processing and pruning of plants.

— June 7-9: suitable time for watering trees and shrubs, mulching, pest control, sowing herbs and perennials, pinching and pruning.

— June 10-11: plants are sensitive — it is advisable to limit yourself to weeding, mulching and removing excess growth.

— June 12-14: planting climbing plants, planting in open ground, removing weeds, pruning stone fruits, fertilizing and sowing root crops are favorable.

— June 15-16: a good time for loosening, removing stepsons, thinning seedlings and weeding; watering and fertilizing are not recommended.

— June 17-18: it is possible to sow and plant vegetables, especially ultra-early varieties and root crops, but without abundant watering and processing.

— June 19-20: suitable for sowing herbs and herbs, loosening, hoeing, replacing soil in containers, but not for pruning.

— June 21-22: mowing of grass, loosening, composting, removal of yellowed leaves are favorable, it is better to postpone the transplant.

— June 23-24: sowing and planting are not recommended, weeding, mowing, pest control, sowing of biennial crops and digging of tubers are possible.

— June 25 (new moon): planting and sowing are excluded, but loosening, watering, weeding, lawn mowing, and fertilizing are possible.

— June 26-29: the time is suitable for pruning trees, sowing lawns, cutting, transplanting and fertilizing.

— June 30: it is recommended to divide and transplant perennials, watering, mowing hedges and lawns.

In June, plants are particularly in need of nitrogen nutrition and water. In the first summer month, top dressing should be carried out with an interval of 15-20 days. A urea solution is used for fertilizing the orchard during the initial procedure. Mullein solution is used for the second top dressing, sometimes bird droppings are used for this purpose. Fertilizer is combined with irrigation, the soil is mulched with peat chips or mown grass — this helps to reduce moisture loss.

On apple trees and pears, the ovary falls off in June, first of all, damaged fruits and excessive ovaries fall off. To prevent excessive ovaries, gardeners cut out fruits in each inflorescence with pruning shears. June is the ripening time for early strawberry varieties, and watering is stopped during harvest to avoid contamination of the fruits.

Frosts may occur in central Russia until mid-June. If there is a critical decrease in temperature, it is necessary to cover thermophilic plants with non-woven fabric and film, in some cases glass jars and bottles are used.

So, when frosts occur, potatoes are hoed with 2-3 cm of earth and the operation is repeated after 4-5 days. On hot days, vegetables need watering; for green crops, watering is necessary in the first three weeks after sowing and planting. Greenhouse cucumbers are watered at least twice a week, and on hot days — every day.

In June, heat-loving crops are sown (cucumber, pumpkin, squash, squash). From the middle of the month, radish, turnip and daikon seeds are sown for winter storage, and lettuce. At the same time, you can sow any seeds of precocious crops: chervil, watercress, mustard leaves, arugula, as well as parsley and dill.

At the end of June, the garden most often yields crops in the form of new potatoes, radishes, greens and young cucumbers. At the end of June, gardeners sow sorrel, perennial onions and garlic arrows.
